  • AUN President’s Special Assignment:

A Principal member of the special committee known as "The Return to the AUN Mission" tasked by the President to outline a strategic path forward. The mandate is to offer guidance to the management for the restoration of academic standards at AUN, responding to the Founder's speech underscoring the university's mission.   

  • NUC accreditation, Leadership and Administration:

My role as the Chair of Software Engineering and AICT Director involved a wide range of responsibilities, from strategic leadership and curriculum development, students advising to staff/faculty management. It also involved program accreditation and coordination.

  • I have successfully Chair and coordinated an NUC’s re-accreditation of the Software Engineering [Nov. 2023]
  • Offering visionary leadership to the AICT, including successfully secured a contract, resulting in the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between AUN and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). This initiative includes a three-year program aimed at training three million technical talents in AI, Data Science, Machine Learning and ICT across the country.
  • Provide comprehensive support to the new Dean as he transitions into his role and his leadership endeavors
  • Google Developer Student Club (GDSC) Initiative, Teaching, Research and Mentorship:

Facilitate the establishment of Google Developer Student Club (GDSC) in AUN. Others include effective teaching, workshops and seminars, faculty recruitment, master and PhD supervision, student support and engagement.

My role as the Dean of the School of IT & Computing involved a wide range of responsibilities, from strategic leadership and curriculum development to faculty management, industry collaborations, and active participation in academic committees. Some key highlights include:

  • Leadership and Administration:
    • Provide visionary leadership to SITC and African Center for ICT Innovation & Training (AICT), setting strategic goals and directions in line with the University’s mission and objectives.
    • Actively participated in critical University-wide committees, serving as a member of the Faculty Promotion Guidelines committee, Doctoral Degree Board (DBB), University Senate, Dean Council, and AUN Management, contributing valuable insights and expertise to the decision-making process.
    • Orchestrated and coordinated various essential activities, including organizing weekly seminars and workshops at the school, facilitating the presentation of Student Research Projects (SRP) and Student Design Projects (SDP), managing the Students' Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES), conducting Computer Programming competitions, and spearheading community outreach programs.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment, promoting teamwork and effective communication among faculty, staff, and students.
    • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, accreditation requirements, and industry standards.
  • Academic Program Development and Enhancement:
    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive curriculum (2022 – 2025 catalog) that meets the needs of students and aligns with industry trends and technological advancements.
    • In FALL 2022, I collaborated with faculty to enhance existing programs / concentrations that address emerging technology (AI/ML, Cryptocurrencies, Data Science, Blockchain, Distributed Computing, Web & Mobile Application).
    • Encourage faculty to engage in research, scholarly activities, and professional development to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
  • Teaching, Faculty Recruitment, Student Support and Engagement:
    • Lead the recruitment and selection process (FALL 2022 & SPRING2023) of highly qualified and diverse faculty members, ensuring a strong academic team.
    • Foster a supportive learning environment, promoting student success, and addressing their concerns / grievances.
    • Collaborate with career services to provide internship and job placement opportunities, promoting industry connections for students.

  • Represented the Dean of the School of Engineering in various programs, meetings, and events, effectively communicating the school’s vision and achievements to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Led the SOE Search Committee as the Chair, overseeing the recruitment and selection process of highly qualified faculty members for the Engineering Departments.
  • As the Chair of the Technical Committee within the School of Engineering (SOE), guiding and coordinating technical initiatives and projects to enhance the Academic offerings and Research capabilities of the school.
  • Chair the Senate Committee on Faculty Retention and Welfare Sub-Committee, advocating for the well-being and professional development of faculty members.

  • State-of-the-Art Facilities and Infrastructure:
    • Oversaw the planning and construction of state-of-the-art engineering facilities, including building/laboratories, classrooms, and workshops.
    • Collaborated with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure the efficient and functional design of engineering spaces that facilitate hands-on learning and research.

    • Initiated the vision for the AUN Students' e-Voting System and the AUN's Web Math Placement Test for the new students.
    • As the Founding Counselor of the AUN IEEE Student Branch, I oversee the operations and activities of the branch and promote student involvement in IEEE initiatives.
    • I Initiated and led numerous community and educational programs, including Quiz Competitions, Collaborative Academic Programs, Workshop & Seminar Series, IEEE XTREME Programming competition, SITC Open house, SDP/SRP Poster event, and Moodle & Canvas LMS Training.
